Found a lost animal? Help it get home
Somewhere, an owner is out searching. Make a found-pet poster, put it up near where you found the animal and share it online, and help it home sooner.
Before and alongside the poster
- 1Get a microchip scan at a vetMost vet clinics can scan for a microchip. Many lost pets have one, and it can reach the owner quickly.
- 2Ask around where you found itOwners usually search close by. Put up posters there and ask building staff, neighbours and nearby shops.
- 3Share it onlinePost in local groups and on social media with the time and place you found the animal, and look out for lost-pet posts.
- 4Make sure it's the real ownerLeave one or two features off the poster (a collar, a marking). Ask callers to describe them, or to show older photos with the pet.
- 5Watch out for scamsA real owner won't ask you to pay first, send a code or click a link. Hand over in a busy place, ideally with someone with you.
Pick a poster
Each one uses your photos and details straight away. You can still change the colour, text size and what's shown.
